“Another Master, Please!” proposes a reflection on the paradox of contemporary freedom and on the almost structural human need to belong to a form of control. The work continues my research into the human condition situated between aspiration and constraint, between the desire for autonomy and the inability to exist outside systems of dependence.
The sculpture is constructed from simple, direct materials — wood, concrete, and metal chain — materials that preserve both the physical and symbolic weight of reality.
The title — “Another Master, Please!” — speaks of the contemporary individual who, even after attaining individual freedom, continues to seek new structures of subordination — social, affective, professional, or ideological. The chain here does not appear solely as a symbol of oppression, but also as an ambiguous form of safety.
