Smile for Me — Guest Artist at BCM Art Gallery, Barcelona
October 6, 2026 | Barcelona, Spain
On October 6, 2026, I had the pleasure of participating as a guest artist in an exhibition at BCM Art Gallery in Barcelona, Spain, held in the context of artist Attilio Chien’s solo exhibition.
It was a wonderful opportunity to present my work to an international audience and become part of an artistic encounter bringing together different creative perspectives. I am grateful to Attilio Chien and the BCM Art Gallery team for their invitation, warm welcome, and the opportunity to contribute to this exhibition.
Smile for Me — Beyond the Surface
My artwork Smile for Me reflects my ongoing interest in human identity, perception, and the complex relationship between the image we present to the world and the emotions we carry within.
A smile is often understood as a universal sign of happiness, warmth, and connection. Yet, it can also become a social expectation, a mask, or a way of concealing what remains unseen. What happens when a smile becomes something we are expected to offer, regardless of how we truly feel?
Through my artistic practice, I explore the tension between outward appearances and inner experience, questioning the roles we adopt and the images we construct of ourselves in response to the world around us.
Smile for Me invites viewers to look beyond the familiar expression and consider the emotions, expectations, and personal experiences that may lie beneath it. It raises questions about authenticity, vulnerability, and the subtle ways in which social conventions shape our identity.
For me, art creates a space in which these contradictions can exist without the need for immediate answers. It allows us to reconsider what we see and to question what we might otherwise take for granted.
A Dialogue Between Artistic Perspectives
Participating as a guest artist in the context of Attilio Chien’s solo exhibition offered an opportunity to bring my work into a broader artistic dialogue.
I value these encounters because they allow artworks to be experienced in new contexts and through different perspectives. Every exhibition creates the possibility of unexpected connections between artists, artworks, and audiences.
Artistic dialogue does not require identical approaches or shared conclusions. Its strength lies in the space it creates for differences to coexist, ideas to be questioned, and new interpretations to emerge.
Being part of this exhibition allowed Smile for Me to enter this shared space of reflection and encounter.
An Artistic Encounter in Barcelona
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Attilio Chien and BCM Art Gallery for inviting me to participate as a guest artist and for making this experience possible.
Barcelona marked another meaningful moment in my artistic journey, offering the opportunity to share my work with a new audience and allow it to become part of a different cultural and artistic context.
For me, every exhibition is more than the presentation of an artwork. It is an opportunity to open a conversation, encourage reflection, and discover new meanings through the eyes of others.
With Smile for Me, I invite viewers to look beyond appearances and consider the delicate boundary between what we show and what we feel.
Sometimes, the most familiar expression is the one that invites us to look a little closer.
